Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery
Dr. med. Sascha Schläger is the Chief Surgeon of the department.
A total of twelve physicians are treating 3,000 outpatients and 2,400 inpatients per year. Up to 95 patients are being treated and cared for at the same time by 40 nurses and 14 physiotherapists in two wards. For all of our staff, it is very important to ensure that human attention and individuality are not neglected in our modern health care system, despite its shortage of time and its financial constraints. In the central operating room, about 2,100 orthopedic/trauma surgeries are performed every year.
In addition, there are more than 300 outpatient procedures and about 400 patients with back and intervertebral disk disorders receive conservative inpatient treatment. Furthermore, the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery was successfully certified as a Maximum Care Endoprosthetics Center in accordance with “EndoCert®” at the end of 2013.
